Josh Gerloff

Josh attended the University of Notre Dame for his undergraduate degree, followed by the University of North Carolina Charlotte where he earned his Master of Architecture. He is a registered architect and NCARB certified.

As the Director of Special Projects, Josh’s focus is on private-sector and healthcare design. Some of his recent projects include the new Plasser Office Building, the designs for the Chesapeake Square Mall redevelopment, and Camp Grom’s Mitchum Family Aquatics Center.

Being in the AEC industry is in Josh’s DNA; his family has been in the design and construction industry for generations. One of his most prized possessions is a stencil his great-grandfather used during a sanctuary renovation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

“I love being an architect, working with clients to tackle complex situations through healthy process, partnership and creativity,” says Josh.

He particularly enjoys the early planning and development phases of a project and is skilled in building information modeling, augmented and virtual reality, and guiding early project planning through municipal codes and ordinances.

Josh is actively involved in the Hampton Roads community, serving on the Chesapeake Planning Commission (currently as Secretary), and the Greater Norfolk Corporation. He is also on the Board of Directors for Old Dominion Aquatic Club and is currently President. He is also a certified official for USA Swimming.
