The Position 

The Contracts Officer is a professional who combines architectural knowledge with contract management skills to oversee the development and issuance of contracts related to design, construction, and project delivery.  This role ensures that contracts are legally sound, compliant, and aligned with project goals while protecting the firm.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $100,000. Compensation offered will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to candidate’s qualifications, skills, relevant experience, education, and certifications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, revise, and coordinate contracts, amendments, change orders, non-disclosure agreements, and related documents.
  • Confirm contract language aligns with approved scopes of work, proposals, pricing, schedules, payment terms, and insurance requirements.
  • Identify unclear language, conflicting terms, contractual risks, and items requiring review by leadership or legal counsel.
  • Assist in negotiating contract terms, including payment, insurance, indemnification, warranties, liability, confidentiality, and termination.
  • Track status of contract documents from initial preparation through execution, renewal, amendment, expiration, and closeout.
  • Track deadlines, renewals, insurance requirements, payment milestones, notices, and other contractual obligations.
  • Work with clients, consultants, leadership, project teams, accounting, and outside legal counsel to resolve contract-related matters.
  • Willingness to support additional priorities and tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, finance, contract management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience reviewing or administering commercial contracts.
  • Experience with professional services, construction, engineering, procurement, consulting, staffing agreements and/or legal contracts preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of AEC industry regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and recognize when matters should be escalated.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AIA contract-management systems.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, organizational, and analytical skills.
