High School K-12 Education
Kecoughtan High School Science Addition.
Hampton, VA
As part of its focus on science curriculum at the high school level, Hampton City Schools commissioned RRMM Architects to design a 15-lab science wing addition to Kecoughtan High School. The project was also part of a plan to eliminate portable labs, bringing all students inside the building during the instructional day. Wall graphics and floor patterns integrate curriculum for an immersive educational environment.
Additionally, the renovations included stormwater and parking improvements to the existing site. Stormwater improvements provided two constructed wetlands to address site drainage issues. Parking improvements included new parking for faculty and visitors, as well as bus loop improvements.
The approximately 38,000 square foot new wing is home to 15 state-of-the art science labs and associated open group collaboration and project spaces.
