Location: Hampton, VA
The renovated facility, which was entirely gutted and redesigned, provides state-of-the-art technology space for the nursing education curriculum, as well as general purpose academic instruction with flexible classroom and office space. The new facility allows TNCC to relocate the Nursing Training Center, nursing faculty and administration from their present site, which the school had outgrown. Other new spaces added to the training center include a Med Surgical-Tech/Maternity Simulation Lab and a student lounge. Color scheme and floor patterns took their inspiration from the college’s colors and logo, resulting in an inlaid wave pattern that adds visual interest while also giving the illusion of depth and width to the hallways.
The building is LEED Certified with highlights including 92% of construction debris diverted from landfills, new materials coming from recycled content, inclusion of FSC certified wood and energy costs modeled to be 22% lower than code-minimum.
