Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Located in the heart of the city, the new Fire Headquarters Station #7 is a two-story, 26,000-square-foot building designed to withstand Category 2 hurricane wind speeds. The first floor serves as a Fire and EMS station with amenities that include a large dining room and kitchen area, a day room with storage, 14 individual sleep rooms, six individual bath/shower rooms, an exercise room, and a watch/radio room. The second floor, which houses fire administration services, includes offices, a conference room, reception area, FEMA and HAZMAT offices. The station is designed to allow for future growth, including an additional apparatus bay and sleeping rooms.
This project is certified LEED Silver and received the 2014 Career Notable Station Award by Firehouse Magazine Station Design.
