The new Animal Services Facility was designed with with Bacon Group, Inc., who served as the animal facility design consultant. The two-story building houses animal sheltering services as well as administrative space, a large meeting/training space and locker rooms. The exterior and interior public areas of the building were designed to be “adoption friendly” with public interaction spaces to be inviting. The interior plan configuration provides separate areas for pet adoptions and surrenders. The adoption area has a separate interview and “get acquainted” spaces where staff members bring pets to meet and greet their potential adoptive families. In addition, the shelter offers segregated holding areas for feral and sick animals to prevent cross contamination of communicable diseases to healthy animals.
