South Bowie Library.

Bowie, Maryland

This 44,000 SF library was constructed as part of a retail and housing complex. As a civic building, it is the focal point for the complex. Taking cues from its railroad heritage, all of the structures in the complex use railroad design elements as a theme. The library not only supports traditional library services, but also provides a five-meeting room complex for residents.

Unique aspects of South Bowie Library include electronic media message boards throughout 50 computers, drive-up service window, special children’s areas, periodical area with a fireplace, special young adult and high school collection, and a a café.
